Our son Jacoby

Our son Jacoby is the inspiration behind Lowcountry Weed Whackers. Jacoby, now 11, was diagnosed with Okur Chung, a rare genetic disorder of the 20th gene, as well as 16P11.2 Gene Deletion Syndrome which is a partial deletion of his 16 gene. These rare conditions cause Jacoby learning delays, and he is non-verbal. Jacoby has always had a passion for how things work and how machines operate. It is our desire that through this business serving our community that Jacoby will learn a trade that he can continue on into his adult life. Jacoby is a student in the special needs program at Knightsville Elementary.

Steve and Dorene have been in the building services industry since 2001. In 2008, we opened a building services franchise in Lexington Ky. Our oldest daughter Amber still lives in that area. Our daughter Myranda was born in Summerville in 2004 and wanted to come home (we did as well), so we reestablished ourselves here in 2016. That same year, we opened Executive Image of Charleston, serving clients throughout our community. Myranda is now a member of the United States Space Force. Our family is made up of 4 daughters Amber, Emilie, Jessica and Myranda and 3 sons Nick, Grant and Jacoby.
Steve grew up on a farm in Northwest Indiana farming with his father for several years. His Dad Don often referred to a trimmer as a "weed whacker" becoming an inspiration for our name. Mowing, trimming, edging and blowing were part of everyday life on the farm. Dorene grew up in Graham North Carolina. Her grandparents were avid landscapers, and possessed a passion for their greenhouse and plants. Establishing Lowcountry Weed Whackers for us is like coming home, back to the roots of where we grew up. It allows us to celebrate our heritage, while serving our community with passion. Our mission is to become a full service lawncare company.
We love living in the Lowcountry, and when we aren't working, you'll find us on the water enjoying the sights and sounds of the beauty around us!
